For the inauguration of a 19th-century cottage turned artist residency, the challenge was to host an Ephemeral Table—without a table. Inspired by the salons of Gertrude Stein’s Paris, expression and exchange became the centerpiece on a crisp autumn afternoon in the Berkshires.
